A New Model To Deal With Municipal Solid Waste
How to deal with the huge amount of municipal solid waste(MSW) harmlessly?
The landfill is only a “Provisional Approach”, and incineration has gradually become the mainstream of MSW disposal.

For the above reasons, we are introducing a new way of MSW resource treatment.
An MSW treatment project in Beijing has achieved resourcefulness and harmlessness of waste.
Step 1: Centralized Transportation of Materials

The garbage trucks will send the domestic garbage to the transfer station for weighing and compression, and then it will be transported to the comprehensive domestic garbage treatment center.

Different from the usual comprehensive MSW treatment center, this center has a set of the world's leading-edge MSW resource treatment systems.
It can easily solve the MSW with complicated composition and high viscous water content, and give most of the resources in MSW a new life.
Step 2 - Feeding Materials and Bag Breaking

When the MSW is dumped into this storage pit by truckloads, under the action of the pusher, the MSW is lined up and takes the first step of their rebirth.

This is a primary shredder from Harden Machinery Ltd., which can effectively crush all kinds of MSW packages for pretreatment, laying the foundation for the subsequent screening process.
Step 3 - Fine Screening, Sorting

What resources in MSW can be reused?

This comprehensive MSW treatment center adopts the “Harden MSW Resource Treatment System”, which is based on the composition of MSW, recycling benefits, and the difficulty of treatment technology.

By applying a variety of innovative screening equipment such as “Multi-angle Disc Screen, Wind Shifter, Magnetic Separator, AI Intelligent Sorting” in an integrated and modular combination.

It can sort out metals, heavy substances, plastics, organic food waste, and other renewable resources from MSW.
① Plastic bottles and other plastic products for recycling into PE pellets;
② Various types of metals, for smelting and recycling;
③ Organic food waste for fermentation and composting or soil improvement for landscaping;
③ Organic food waste for fermentation and composting or for soil improvement in landscaping;
④ Combustible lightweight materials such as waste plastics, waste paper, styrofoam, etc., which are prepared into RDF/SRF alternative fuels in the next process.
Step 4 - RDF/SRF Alternative Fuel Preparation

MSW has most of the low-value recyclable resources, such as waste plastics, waste paper, EPF, and other combustible lightweight materials.
They have low renewable value but have high-quality combustion calorific value.

Therefore, with a Harden single-shaft shredder, the combustible lightweight materials in MSW are shredded into high-quality RDF/SRF alternative fuels. The particle size can reach from 30 to 50 mm.

RDF/SRF alternative fuel made from MSW become one of the hottest carbon-negative products. It can be widely applied in industrial kilns in the cement industry and boilers in power plants to replace traditional fossil fuels such as coal.

It also helps to reduce coal consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.

The project has been put into operation for nearly three years, with a design capacity of 25-30t/h and 300 tons/day.
As the first integrated treatment system for MSW in Beijing, China, it not only realizes that MSW can be turned into recyclable or reusable resources, but also effectively reduces the amount of waste to be landfilled and incinerated.

It is estimated that it can save 300,000 tons of landfill and 450,000 tons of incineration waste disposal per year, which is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1 million tons.

Nowadays, with the technology related to the resourceful treatment of MSW, Harden Machinery Ltd. can accelerate the resourceful, harmless and reduced capacity treatment of MSW, and help to build a green and low-carbon livable city.
